Off on Tour

Well I must apologize for the gap in my posting on the blog, but here I am again.

This will be short and sweet as we are about to head off on tour with the school for the weekend. We will be going to Salmon Arm, Kelowna, Penticton and Grand Forks.

There was great excitment this week - we got to watch the first half hour eposide of the Help In Daily Living DVD, that is what we filmed in Hawaii. It was great, I can't wait till the whole thing is finished and we can share it with you all. The students all looked great and did a fantastic job. I am sure this will be a great tool for sharing with friends and family.

I must run, they are shewing me out the door to head out on tour.
Have a great weekend.

Braces for Tamzin

On Thursday last week Tamzin got braces on.
As most kids, she was looking forward to this - well the novelity wore off very fast!
She lived on pain relief for the first 3 or 4 days as they hurt quite badly.
It is Monday now and they seem to have settled down quite well - no more pain relief which is nice.
She had a wide variety of colors to choose from - she choose hot pink! These elastics get changed every 5 weeks or so, so I guess she will be having a different color each time. Boy, they never had such fun things when I had braces!!!

Looks like something out of a horror movie! She said it was quite uncomfortable - it looks like it. Apparently the suction thing you can see inside her mouth fell down and almost choked her!

Hot pink teeth!

------------------------------
A week ago one of the grade 11 girls here at the school - Kalyse, came over and Tamzin and her did a spot of cooking. They made a cake a decorated it.
They had a great time. I think they did a great job of the cake too.

This past weekend was board meeting weekend here at the school. One of the board members has a helicopter and flew up in it for the weekend.
He heard that Kyle was keen on getting his helicopter's pilot license so offered to take him for a fly - which he did. Kyle even got to fly it a little bit.

Here is Kyle getting the 'run down' on the helicopter. He was over the moon when he returned from his flight.

Here are the other guys waiting to go for a ride.
He took Kyle on his own as the administration committee had told the guy who owned it that he couldn't take any students without parental permission. He thought none of the guys would be able to get it except Kyle since we live here - so he took him off for a fly. By the time they returned 5 more guys had managed to get their parents permission!

Life is returning back to normal since we got back from Hawaii. I have been able to take it a bit easier - which is nice.
Alistair is busy trying to get the carrot beds in so they can plant the carrots. It is proving to be more challenging than he thought. Those straight lines are much harder to get than one might think!
I think we can put this down to one of those character building moments (or should I say weeks)................

Home Again

We have made it back to Fountainview Safe and sound - it did take us 24 hours to get here though! We had a stop over in L.A then San Fran and then onto Seattle, after which we had a 6 hour drive back to F/V. We got here about 10pm. Needless to say we are all going a bit slower today.

We arrived at Lihue airport just after 6pm to begin the checking in process. It took longer than we thought and it ended with half a dozen of us getting pulled from the back of the security line and rushed through, to then have to 'sprint' through the airport to board our plane! I have never cut it so fine catching a flight - but we made it on.

Only 2 pieces of luggage got lost - Nolan's bag is still sitting in Lihue and a speaker was left in San Fran. They did manage to snap a double base also! The United lady was very impressed that only 2 bags got lost, with so many in our group and so many stop overs! She seemed quite proud of the fact that it was only 2 they had lost - I didn't think they should have lost any.

We have had a slow start today - they aren't starting school/work till after lunch, which I think is very wish.

I can't believe that our time has come and gone in Hawaii. It has been an awesome experience - God blessed in so many ways. When I returned my rental car, the shuttle driver asked what we had been doing there - I told him we were filming a music DVD. He told me that we were extremely lucky to get such good weather at this time of the year - it isn't usually so nice. I told him that the good weather was because we were there, we had all prayed for the sunshine and the Lord gave it to us.

I hope you have enjoyed the blog (I wouldn't mind if you let me know if you enjoyed it - it is always nice to get feed back).

Off to start wading my way through the mile high pile of washing we have.....................

Our celebration supper was lovely - here are a few pictures.

Tamzin and Ellen creating the pineapple and fruit creation

This is the cabin we stayed in - the little room on the right is the outdoor shower - it had a toilet inside, which was nice.

The shower - you could look up to the stars while showering - i did wonder how many geikoes where looking down on me!

The cabin Kyle and 5 other guys stayed in.

These trees where neat.

There are chickens everywhere on this island - it is against the law to kill them. So the roam all over - they don't have any preditors.

Kyle and Joel slogging it out - I won't disclose who won!

I better go pack - we are leaving at 8.30 tonight....................

Church, Concert & Powered Hang-gliding

Saturday a group of us went to church at Kapa'a. The students did the service. It was fantastic. I got such a blessing from it, hearing some of their testimonies - God really is working with these young people!

Saturday night they did a concert at the Performing Arts Center. We were all VERY worried as all they had to play on were the filming instruments - which are very cheap and nasty. Some of them were much 'the worse for wear' after been dragged around filming for 3 weeks. We all prayed hard that the Lord would 'tweek' the instruments so they would sound good. He sure answered our prayers - they sounded great! I am sure the angels came and played and sang with them!

I think they looked really great in their filming uniforms - a little more casual then the suits -which was a nice change.

I was given a lay - up the front at the concert! I was rather embaressed. They called some of us up and I was one of them - not really sure why, there were lots of other people who have worked hard on this trip which should have been up there too.
I wasn't even in the concert - I was out at the sales table and some one came running out calling me telling me to get up the front. So I did, not really knowing why! It was a nice surprise - it smelt lovely, it is such a shame that it won't last.

At 5.30am this morning (Sunday) we headed off to a small airport on the island so Alistair and Kyle could go powered hang gliding. The weather conditions were fantastic.
They got all suited up and headed out for an hour long trip.
They actually got to fly the gliders - it was a training session/scenic flight. They aren't allowed to give scenic flights so they give an intro to hang gliding to get round the 'red tape'.

Don't they look fetching!!

Check out that grin! It has been on his face all day!

They are neat looking contraptions - have an engine smaller than our jet-ski (100hp) - Tamzin wondered why we couldn't make our jet ski fly then! She thought we could slap some wings on it and away we go!! Kyle just shook his head.

Some of the sights they saw from the air - a shrimp farm.

They even saw whales - isn't that cool, they even got photos of them. They are Humpbacks.

Can you spot Alistair's hang glider? A little white speck.

They had a great time and we have some awsome photos which they took while up there - I wish I had gone now!

We did some shopping this afternoon. We came accros these HUGE crocs - they were even too big for Kyle's foot!

Alistair flew back to Canada at lunch time today - we head back tomorrow night. Can't believe our time is almost over already - it has been so much fun - and a bit tiring!

Tomorrow we will be busy packing and organizing ourselves ready for the flight home.

Tonight we are having a celebration supper - it looks amazing. I am sitting in the cafe waiting to par-take of this yummy looking food.

Random Photos from Hawaii

Sheltering from the rain.

Rebecca and Tamzin wanted some photos with their cellos on the beach.

Another rain shower came through, so they took shelter behind their cellos, it was pretty windy too.

Filming the final song!

It Is Finished!!!

Well today we finished filming!!!
In total we filmed 41 songs (we had to re film 2).
What an awesome experience it has been for us all. I can't wait to see the finished product.
God has blessed us greatly throughout this mission trip, especially with the weather.

Kyle being filmed for his introduction to one of the songs.

I have been trying to upload more photos but the internet is having another 'fit'.
So I will try again tomorrow.
We don't leave till Monday night, it is Thursday night now. So we have a couple of 'free' days to hit the beach and get some more sun (like we need anymore sun).
