Braces for Tamzin

On Thursday last week Tamzin got braces on.
As most kids, she was looking forward to this - well the novelity wore off very fast!
She lived on pain relief for the first 3 or 4 days as they hurt quite badly.
It is Monday now and they seem to have settled down quite well - no more pain relief which is nice.
She had a wide variety of colors to choose from - she choose hot pink! These elastics get changed every 5 weeks or so, so I guess she will be having a different color each time. Boy, they never had such fun things when I had braces!!!

Looks like something out of a horror movie! She said it was quite uncomfortable - it looks like it. Apparently the suction thing you can see inside her mouth fell down and almost choked her!

Hot pink teeth!

A week ago one of the grade 11 girls here at the school - Kalyse, came over and Tamzin and her did a spot of cooking. They made a cake a decorated it.
They had a great time. I think they did a great job of the cake too.

This past weekend was board meeting weekend here at the school. One of the board members has a helicopter and flew up in it for the weekend.
He heard that Kyle was keen on getting his helicopter's pilot license so offered to take him for a fly - which he did. Kyle even got to fly it a little bit.

Here is Kyle getting the 'run down' on the helicopter. He was over the moon when he returned from his flight.

Here are the other guys waiting to go for a ride.
He took Kyle on his own as the administration committee had told the guy who owned it that he couldn't take any students without parental permission. He thought none of the guys would be able to get it except Kyle since we live here - so he took him off for a fly. By the time they returned 5 more guys had managed to get their parents permission!

Life is returning back to normal since we got back from Hawaii. I have been able to take it a bit easier - which is nice.
Alistair is busy trying to get the carrot beds in so they can plant the carrots. It is proving to be more challenging than he thought. Those straight lines are much harder to get than one might think!
I think we can put this down to one of those character building moments (or should I say weeks)................

  1. Fantastic colours Tamzin! =D Hope all goes well with your braces. I can sympathise with you on the suction tube - had that happen to me more times than I can remember >.<

That is awesome that Kyle was able to learn a bit and even fly the Helicopter! That'll be awesome to learn how to fly one. I'll keep Kyle in mind when I need a private helicopter to charter me to my resort in Jaffa one day ;D

Hope you guys are well! Sending love from everyone here!
